We drove through the slums of Thailand to the boat pier and walked up and down the dangerous wooden-half broken bridges to get on the boat. It was a small ferry type boat.
We left our massive bags downstairs in the bay and headed upstairs to the opensided deck where Aine, Liv and Tara passed out on the floor. Anna was a little worse for wear and slept downstairs in the aircon instead. We passed LOTS of awesome looking islands, amazing!
When we got to Koh Tao, we loaded our bags in a pick-up truck taxi which we sat in the back of with our bags! I LOVED this, such an adventure!
Check out my clip of our journey in Koh Tao from the pier to Sairee Beach:
There was lots of mopeds and quad-bikes! This island was alot more laid back than Samui! We were meeting Tara's friend Grace in Koh Tao, she has been there the last 2 weeks waiting on her second OZ visa to come through. She is staying in a hostel called SpiceyTao which was really cool, but reminded me alot of the 'Beach' movie, it was like a commune of hippies. It took us ages to find the place, but we decided to stay in hut on the beach instead - Sairee Cottages. They are so cute and right by the beach! These were 450 Baht each a night, we splashed out a little more, but we all wanted to stay in the huts! The water has a lot of coral and is very choppy at Sairee but apparently Grace has a nice beach to bring us to tomorrow! YAY!
Tara and myself had the nicest chicken kebabs at Sairee Cottages Restaurant before a short storm hit. We sat on our hut porch having a few drinks with Grace before heading to a beach party at Lotus Bar and then on to an amzing beach party at Fishbowl.
I LOVE that place. Fire dancers, fire skipping rope, buckets, lots of people, lots of dancing. I am a talented fire-dancer - who knew?! AND I am brilliant at the fire skipping rope - my days in Scoil Aine school yard were all worth it! ha!
