It took us about 6 hours in total, but we powered through
and arrived into Airlie Beach about 3pm.
We checked in for our boat at ABC
Travel and signed a few waivers. We then drove over to Nomads which was across
the road and checked into a powered caravan site, pretending there was only 2
of us per campervan to get a cheaper deal – we know the tricks of the travellers
now ;)
Nomads hostel was a lovely spot, we were overlooking their
swimming pool, bar and dorm style cabins which were made of glass.
We made friends with two Australian guys, Aidan and Sam,
childhood friends who met up in Airlie Beach for fishing trips. They were the
nicest and most generous Australians we’ve met so far. They offered us all
beers and we sat and hung out with them all night. Aidan went missing for about
20 minutes and returned back with a huge white paper full of fish and chips,
enough for about 10 people, and a bag of ‘Power Pop’, which is this pink
champagne, which he says girls love here. We definitely did!
